Internationally recognized entrepreneurship curriculum

REAL Entrepreneurship® is an experiential entrepreneurship education program used by schools, community colleges, universities, and community-based organizations in 43 states and 12 countries. REAL teaches entrepreneurial mindset, principles, and skills to help participants plan, build, and grow successful and sustainable businesses. It was developed in the early 1980s and it remains an integral component of high school and college curricula, offering CEUs to educators through professional development institutes and in-service training.

The Sequoyah Fund, CDFI

The Sequoyah Fund, Inc. is a Native CDFI (Community Development Finance Institution) certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury. Founded in 1998, Sequoyah Fund serves the lending and training needs of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and small businesses on the Qualla Boundary and the seven far-western counties of North Carolina. Their CEO, Russ Seagle, had become a REAL facilitator in 1999 while serving as the Small Business Center Director for a local community college. By the time he arrived at The Sequoyah Fund in 2009, the rest of the Sequoyah Fund staff had become certified to teach REAL.

The Sequoyah Fund made a significant investment in their community by funding the REAL certification of nearly 50 local high school and middle school teachers and administrators who were integrating entrepreneurship education into everything from language arts to theater to math to physical education. Sequoyah Fund is the managing organization behind several leading national programs such as; REAL Entrepreneurship Curriculum, Camp Girl Boss, and TACTIX.
